So, who are the Douro Boys?
First off, we will admit that the four winemakers who now make up the Douro Boys are no longer “boys”, but fully-grown men. Also, the women behind the scenes play no less important roles.
They are the family-run estates of Quinta do Vallado, Niepoort, Quinta do Crasto and Quinta do Vale Meão.
What started as a group of like-minded friends quickly morphed into a globally acclaimed project. Since 2003 the wine producers from the Douro region have worked together with one goal: to go beyond their already famous Port wines and produce the best dry reds and white table wines, collectively showcasing the immense potential that the valley along the lengths of the Douro River has to offer to the world.
As many connoisseurs around Planet Wine now know, the high quality of Douro wines is indisputable. What makes the boys so successful in communicating their vision is their enthusiasm and passion.
